One of the most beautiful lakes in Georgia and just a short drive from the city of Atlanta is Lake Lanier. Lake Lanier is enjoyed by visitors and residents year-round as the winters are mild and the summers are hot and sunny. We recently had the opportunity to visit the lake during the winter months and stayed at the Lanier Islands Legacy Lodge. Here is what you need to know about our experience and things to do. 

What Type Of Entertainment Is Available At Lanier Islands Legacy Lodge

While the islands are packed with entertainment, here is a rundown of what is available within the lodge’s property. 

Swimming

Take a dip in the outdoor swimming pool positioned behind the main entrance to the lodge. The pool is lined with chairs and window service for an ice-cold drink from Bullfrog’s Bar & Grille. We recommend grabbing a seat early as the number of chairs is limited. 

During our stay, we noticed children and adults enjoying the water. The pool remained heated despite the cold air temperatures. 

Game Room

A small game room is directly behind the swimming pool on the lodge’s lower level. We enjoyed playing foosball and shooting pool while gazing out over the pool and tree-lined Lake Lanier. 

Hiking

For the outdoor adventurer, hop on the trails which wind through the forest along the banks of the lake. Keep a sharp lookout for blue markings painted on trees. The blue markings indicate that you are remaining within the trail. 

Pack walking shoes as the path contains rocks, elevation changes, and mud after rain. Explore the coves and docks along the trail and peak into the crystal clear water for a chance at spotting fish. 

Fishing

Fishing is a popular sport on Lake Lanier because of the wide variety of species it holds. Cast from shore on a dock or along the bank for a chance to catch striped bass, largemouth bass, crappie, or more.

Dining

There is no need to leave the lodge as plenty of dining opportunities are available on sight. On your way in stop at L Bar for a cocktail after a long journey.

On the casual dining side is Bullfrog’s Bar & Grille. The bar and grille feature both indoor and outdoor seating along the pool. We had the opportunity to dine at Bullfrog’s and highly recommend the restaurant. The menu is expansive so you, your family, children, and friends will have no trouble finding something to please. 

For a more upscale experience dine at Sidney’s. Sidney’s offers elevated dining with windows gazing out to the lake and pool below. The menu is more upscale compared to Bullfrog’s but is a must-visit during your stay at Lanier Islands Legacy Lodge. 

Relaxing

Despite all of the activities available within the lodge, never shy away from relaxing. The lodge is surrounded by forests and endless coves along the shores of the lake. Whether you are kicking back on your patio or venturing to a secluded spot along the bank, find a place to enjoy the peace and quiet. 

What Parking Access Is Available At Legacy Lodge

As with many hotels particularly in the city of Atlanta, parking is expensive and limited. When driving into Legacy Lodge through the gate, don’t be concerned about finding a space. 

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a massive well-lit lot with more than enough spaces to suit hotel guests. In addition to the size of the lot, it is within close proximity to the entrance of the lodge.

No matter the season, Laner Islands offers entertainment year-round. Here are the 

Winter Months

During the winter months check out License To Chill- Margaritaville Resort. We had a first-hand experience snow tubing down the hill and it was a blast for all ages. 

In addition to tubing, a full theme park is available with rides that are included with admissions. 

Summer Months

During the summer months, the party heats up. Margaritaville features a water park, beach with bars and restaurants, and cruises aboard the party boat. You won’t need to leave the gate for daily entertainment.

In addition to waterfront partying and beaching, a gorgeous golf course ventures along the shore which features changes in elevation. Plan an 18 hole round to catch a glimpse of the lake from many perspectives.

No matter the age you will find endless entertainment at Legacy Lodge. However, if sitting back and relaxing is your more your speed you will find plenty of space to get away. We highly recommend visiting the lodge and taking advantage of all that it has to offer.
