The coastal waters of Georgia feature beautiful marshlands with pristine barrier islands. Marine life is abundant and includes dolphins, a robust crustacean fishery between shrimp and blue crab, and ample angling opportunities for trout, redfish, and flounder. Transient boaters pass through Savannah when venturing up or down the east coast of the United States. Delegal Creek Marina is an excellent choice. Here is what you need to know about the best coastal marina in Savannah.

Where Is Delegal Creek Marina

When searching for a marina that provides shelter from winds, is within close range to the intercoastal waterway, and sits inside a gated community, consider Delegal Creek.

We have visited the marina, which is positioned 30 minutes southeast of downtown Savannah on Skidaway Island.

Skidaway Island is home to two marinas, Delegal Creek is located on the island’s southern half, and Landings Harbor Marina is positioned on the north end.

The marina is positioned within a gated community featuring 6 golf courses, restaurants, a gym, and resort-style swimming pools. We recommend renting a golf cart from the Landings Golf Car Center when visiting by boat. A golf cart is the most exciting way to experience what the island offers.

What Amenities Are Available At Delegal Creek Marina

The marina features top-notch amenities to feel as though you are in the comfort of your own home.

Fuel And Gas

The marina features both fuel and gas pumps to refill before continuing on your journey. Marina staff is within the building built on the fuel dock for assistance and payment.

During your stay remain up to speed with work and news. Delegal Creek features wireless internet for marina patrons.

Fish Cleaning Station

When fishing on the way in, take advantage of the fish cleaning station positioned on the dock. The fish cleaning table features a hose, cutting board, and ease of disposing of carcasses.

Showers And Laundry Facilities

The offers exceptionally clean showers and bathrooms. Adjacent to the restrooms are washing machines and dryers to catch up on laundry during your journey north or south.

Marine Store

While you’re staying at the marina stock up at the marina which offers ice, snacks, and drinks. However, the island is home to a Publix Supermarket when you are in need of a complete restock.

Is Dockage Space Available For Transient Boater At Delegal Creek Marina

Yes, dockage is available for transient boaters at the marina. The marina is capable of welcoming vessels up to 150 feet in length.

When it comes to draft, plant your tides. Vessels with a draft of up to 3.5 feet can enter the marina at any time. The maximum allowable draft is 9 feet and must be transited during high tide as compared to low or mid-tide.

How Do Find Delegal Creek Marina By Boat

The marina is positioned within close proximity to the intercoastal waterway and the Atlantic Ocean.

Use caution when transiting in through Ossabaw Sound and the Ogeechee River. Pay particular attention on the northwest side of Racoon Key. This area is called Hell Gate and is know for particularly shallow waters.

When operating through Hell Gate remain within the channel markers to avoid running aground. The water quickly shoals out beyond the markers.

Keep a sharp lookout for channel markers guiding you into Delegal Creek. The entrance to Delegal Creek is well marked but remain inside of the navigational posts. From the entrance, you will visibly sight the marina therefore the journey is short.

When heading up the creek remain on the starboard side of the waterway and hail the marina to notify them of your arrival for dockage instructions and assistance.

We suggest fueling on the way in to avoid wasting time when wanting to get back out and continue on your journey.

The marina offers ample room for maneuvering but be we aware of strong currents. The strong currents will set you down and out of position rapidly. Once secured, water and electricity are available for power and cleaning salt.

We suggest climbing the lookout tower. The lookout tower provides spectacular views of Ossabaw sound and surrounding islands. It is not uncommon to catch a glimpse of wild pigs roaming the lands.

Make Delegal Creek Marina Your Next Stop When Venturing Along The East Coast

The next time you are cruising up or down the east coast check out the coastal Georgia marina on Skidaway Island. In addition to protective dockage, you will have the opportunity to explore miles of bike paths, golf courses, restaurants, and more. We know firsthand what the marina and Landings community has to offer and highly recommend you making the trip. The Landings is the best boating community in coastal Georgia.
